Bikeabout London is your chance to join Chris Leakey and Liz Wilton as they finish their mammoth 16,000km bike ride from New Zealand to England.
On Saturday 11th February, they will be cycling into London along the River Thames cycle route, arriving into Greenwich around 1pm where the ride will end.

You are invited to join Liz and Chris for the last few miles on your bike, to celebrate the success of their journey and welcome them home. The ride will end at The Gypsy Moth Pub in Greenwich where there will be an opportunity to meet Chris and Liz, as well as joining their fundraising party during the afternoon.
Bikeabout is supporting the charity Child’s Dream to raise £20,000 to build a school for underprivileged kids in Southeast Asia. There will be an auction, a raffle and a bake sale to raise money on the day, and all donations will be gratefully received! All proceeds go towards buiding the school.

Starting at Gravesend, Chris and Liz will be picking up the Sustrans cycle network on National Route 1. This is 90% traffic free and runs along the river, passing through Dartford, Erith, Woolwich and ending in Greenwich, a total of 24 miles.

You can join the ride at any point, and you can ride as far as you wish. Meeting points will be near rail stations, at the following locations:

Things you may want to bring:a rain jacket/water proofs, a reflective jacket, gloves, water to drink, snacks, a helmet, a bike lock, a little puncture repair kit and bike pump, and plenty of good humour!
We will cycle at a leisurely pace so everyone can join in and we will cycle as a group as much as possible. Kids and baby trailers very welcome too!

Chris and Liz started their ride in New Zealand September 2009. From here they cycled together until November 2010 China. Liz went back to the UK at this point to see family and to top up the bank balance.
Chris cycled in China during the winter and the couple continued again from China to Mongolia in March 2011. In December 2011 Liz returned to the UK to escape the cold winter. Her total kms were 13,091km.
Chris is still cycling back to England and is due back on the 11th of Feb. It is estimated that his final distance will be 16,000km.
