China cycle touring photo gallery
9th November 2010 - 6th May 2011: 180 days
We entered China in the southern province of Yunnan, arriving at Mohan. We cycled north to Dali (Old Town) via Mengla, Jinghong, Puer, Zhenyuan, Jingdong, Hujie, Nanjian and Weishan. Liz flew home from here to see her family and work for 3 months. Chris continued cycling...
After Dali Chris headed along the Tibetan border in Sichuan province, via Lijang, Shangrila, Batang, Baiyu, Dege, Manigange, Ganze, Luhu and kanding. He cycled in winter, at altutudes of 4000-5000mtrs in a remote area. From Kanding Chris took a bus to Chengdu before meeting up with Liz again. We took a train from Chengdu to Xi'an, then Xi'an to Beijing. From Beijing we took another train to Jining, and then got back on the bikes and cycled north to Mongolia. We passed through Qahar Youyi Houqi, Tomortei, Sonid Youqi and Erenhot along the way.
